Phillip Morris leaves Sundance without a distributor
26 Jan 2009

By TNPihl (JCO Editor-In-Chief)

The 25th annual Sundance Film Festival took place last week where Jim Carrey's upcoming movie was screened. As you can read on our forum it received many good reviews and it is now popping up on websites as one of the best movies at the festival!

Jim's low budget film "I Love You Phillip Morris" with the budget of $13 million came to the festival without a US distributor and unfortunately it also left without a deal with a Hollywood studio. Many movies got a deal during the 10 days, but it seems to be more difficult to sell the love story about Steven Russell (Jim Carrey) and Phillip Morris (Ewan McGregor). Is it too expensive or are they unsure how to market the comedy?

Hopefully the producers and the studios come to an agreement in the near future so we are able to see it in the theaters.
