Jim Carrey Buys His First NFT
03 Jun 2022

By Eva Araújo (Web correspondent)

Before we go any further in this article, we need to explain to you what a NFT is.

Officially, an "NFT is an asset that marks ownership of products that live online, like art or music. "NFTs are purchased (using money or cryptocurrency) to assign unique ownership of most any type of digital creation to the buyer. Think of it along the lines of procuring a coveted baseball card - it has an agreed-upon monetary value, but the card itself cannot be exchanged as currency. It will give you a unique, exclusive ownership of a property."

In main terms it means you get to own a piece of art without physically have it.

Jim Carrey has mentioned that he is going to put his art out there as NFTs, but before that happens, Jim decided to do some shopping of his own.

Recently he posted a tweet about purchasing his first NFT. The NFT is created by Ryan Koopmans and Alice Wexell and is described as ‘gently capturing nature’s exquisite and relentless reinvention’ in Carrey’s words. The NFT is from the collection, The Wild Within and was sold for 20 ETH ($39,535) on May 25.

Art is very subjective. What you may love and enjoy, others may not. What has a special meaning to you or touches you somehow may be different for someone else.

No matter what, the important thing is what makes you feel.

We at JCO will keep you updated as more news come.
