Did anyone see movie Spinal Tap? Pure Genius, no script!
I remember this old flick from the 80's about an aging rock band. I don't think I've ever enjoyed a movie so much. Spook of Rock bands of 80's Long hair and dying career. Spontaneous combustion! Can the speakers go to 11? They all go to level 10, why not 11? When I heard they didn't use a script, adlib! Pure comedic performances by all.
Spinal Tap must be one of the funniest films ever.
I always remember the bit when they're on stage and the Stonehenge model comes down and it's tiny. Because they got the measurements mixed up. When my brother and I first saw that we were literally doube-up on the floor laughing. Hilarious.

Everybody should believe in something.

Yes. I thought it was funny as hell. The humor was so dry, so ridiculous you can't help but love it. I should see it again. The movie still remains murky (for me) because I haven't seen it in years.
I love the part when Rob Reiner (sp?) was reading reviews of their albums. Must of them got rave reviews, except Shark Sandwich--or what one music critic calls it--S--t Sandwich. Gold. Pure gold.

if you liked spinal tap you may like some of the other non-scripted movies that have almost the same cast
Waiting For Guffman (city theater director moves to small town in Missouri)
Best of Show (behind the scenes at a dog show)
A Mighty Wind (folk singer reunion concert)
these are all HILARIOUS....

Quirks, you have to see "Waiting for Guffman" It's all about a small town theatre group who perform an original musical based on the town's Sesquecentennial. They think someone from Broadway is going to scout the show and they'll all make the big time. I was weeping with laughter!quirky wrote:That sounds like fun!non-scripted movies
I agree, the best thing about the Christopher Guest films is all the dialogue is improvised... all the cast work so well together.
"This is Spinal Tap" coined the phrase "mocumentary" I'm really looking forward to his next film, "For Your Consideration"

I haven't seen Spinal Tap. And when they tried to give me one at Johns Hopkins, they hit a nerve and I yelled, "That's enough!"
