Y'know, it's interesting reading the responses and matching the corresponding ages..............
I guess when you are younger it is so confusing.........which direction to go in faithwise.......there are so many choices.......do you go with your Christian upbringing?......... or shave your head and dress in an orange sheet whilst chanting down Sunset Strip?..........

I'm in my early 30's now and the older i get the less defined i need things to be..........it's easier to go with the flow of life, and experience teaches you there are good and bad elements in all faiths...........
So you begin to adapt the bits which suit your life and if that means praying AND meditation and a bit of Yogic Flying then so be it............
and i guess that's what Jim means..........

Wait...they'd make me shave my head, wouldn't they? Nope. That's out. I like my head fur too much.

We are the same age. The older I get, the more I think there is no "correct" faith...but the MORE I look around me at things and worry and wish that more people had some sort of spirituality and moral scaffolding upon which to build a life...especially younger people.

Some days, there just seems to be an overabundance of ugly.

My spiritual comfort food is beef jerky.

but i appreciate your views...........i'm a teacher and i really feel for my pupils......they come from ropey backgrounds, drugs drink and crime are rife....and that's with their parents...........we try our best to give them some security and stability but we can't take them home with us.......and they are only young, 4-11......some are still babies.......

But it has to be said that 'the times they are a'changin'.......and moral values have changed with them.................sigh....

bring back good old victorian values.......lol....

Nope, ..............not England,.........somewhere FAR FAR nicer.....more beautiful, cleaner, friendlier and just altogether better.....(lol....wait for the deluge of hate mail from the English......lol

Oh and i forgot to mention we are world renowned for our hospitality.........think Edinburgh at Hogmany(new years eve).......

So if you mix up the peace and beauty of the highlands, the kindness and humour of the people and our warmth and open hospitality you have Scotland............

and yes the UK consists of Scotland England Ireland and Wales......hence the united Kingdom....................but the funny thing is we all tease each other about hating the English........we don't........it's just funny ....not a seriously racial thing, that would be too shocking.............

Maverick, I know....I was teasing fluffy.

I think the Scottish accent is beautiful.

In college, one of the ladies who cleaned our hall of residence (in London) was Scottish. Is it Burns' Night that they traditionally have haggis? Anyway, she invited me to this Scottish Pub to have haggis.

No comment.

But it was sweet, and I had a great time at the Scottish Pub.

i know ...........haggis is an aquired taste..............but you can get a beautiful veggie haggis which is lovely ..........all oatmeal, onions , neeps, carrots and spices............it's really lovely......

OK....but when they shove all the vegetables inside a stomach lining doesn't it sort of blow the whole *veggie* concept?

In London, I studied Drama and English.

Also known as pub conversation, theatre outings, and cider and black.

The professor had us pretending to be marshmallows once. It was this moment of giggly angst for me. I thought to myself..."I'm being a marshmallow. This is so Stanislavsky....but when would I EVER play a marshmallow?"

Then I remembered Ghostbusters, but still...I'm pretty sure it was more the costume there that conveyed the character.

So then I thought, "Maybe in some Ionesco play, there's a marshmallow...and the character of the marshmallow is symbolic of the shallowness of mankind."

I'm still glad I was the marshmallow for awhile, because it's something to look back on and laugh.

I'm putting vegetarian haggis in my mental filing cabinet right into the folder that contains non-alcoholic beer and decaffeinated coffee. It's the "What's the point?" file.

I don't teach or act. I'm one of those puzzle pieces that hasn't yet found a fitting slot in the big picture.
