to me im glad it wasnt postponed cuz the war cant take us over and just stop what we are doing....thats what saddam wants..we cant have him see that hes winning by getting everybody down and putting a stop to our lives and everything....a lot of the actors and actresses seemed to understand that...but i guess Jim didnt ..i dont know...but thats my point of view
melissa<img src=http://Jim Carrey Online.com/board/graphics/aceatalk.gif ALT=":aceatalk">

I was bummed too. And Carreyholica I know what you mean about sitting there with your finger pasted on the record button. Mine was too. I didn't get to go to the bathroom either! Thank god this award show was shorter than usual. Hey guys at least look at it this way, Renee lost! HAHAHAHA! That made my night! Go Nicole! Still bummed Jim wasn't there though! At leat I got the Bruce poster hanging in my room now. That makes me feel a little better. I just got it yesterday at work, two months earlier than I was supposed to get it, so that cheered me up after the stupid Oscars. I'm sure Jim had his reasons and I still support him no matter what. I just wish we could have known about it sooner like when Will Smith dropped out.

Melanie

Possible answer for pull-out.

Post by SA JCFan »

It's not THE answer but it's just a reported reason. Got this from Yahoo! and E!Online. This one's from Liz Taylor's pull out (Oscar night was suppose to be her farewell to Hollywood):

Angelina Jolie, a scheduled presenter and Best Supporting Actress winner for 1999's Girl, Interrupted, was a last-minute withdrawal, reportedly, like Taylor, Will Smith and Jim Carrey, choosing not to do the award-show thing during wartime.

And... this one's from the poor Oscar ratings due to war coverage:

Viewers weren't the only ones sitting out the raucous broadcast, also missing in action last night were conscientious Oscar objectors Will Smith and Jim Carrey, geographically stranded Peter Jackson and Cate Blanchett and last-minute cancellation Elizabeth Taylor, who just last week announced the event would be her "swan song on the stage." [ ... ] Whatever impact the war had on ratings or presenter pull-outs it seemed to have little effect on the diamond jubilee awards show itself.
*T.a.K.e K.a.R.e N.o.W -|- B.u.H ~ B.y.e T.H.e.N*
