Affirmation thread:

Post by quirky »

I was doing some thinking today about how choppy life can be. But I wanted to paint silver lining on the clouds. I thought about all of the things that are OK and that I'm even GOOD at. I think I frequently forget to cut myself a break and I dwell on what I consider to be my weaknesses and what I need to do to be an authentic and humble person and I forget the good things.

1) I have no idea how it happened, just by osmosis I guess, but I'm a REALLY good cook. It's actually AMAZING that my grandma defers to me in how some things get cooked. And she even called me one night to ask me how to cook something. I have the ability to taste something away from home and recreate it AT home.

2) My sense of humor, though darker now, is still there. If I can get all the people in a room laughing it's like I scored a karmic goal. And it happens not infrequently.

3) I am wise, but not jaded.

4) My singing voice is back.

5) It's hard for me to hold a grudge and most people like me.

That's all for now. How about you?

Well, despite feeling my life is spiralling out of control sometimes, I know that underneath it all I am a fairly laid-back kinda gal and can see things practically without getting bogged down with "what if's".
I have to remind myself of that sometimes though. Lol.
Everybody should believe in something.

I think that I am laid back, can cook anything that can fit in a microwave or toaster, I have a decent singing voice, I don't hold grudges w/ anyone.

I guess my life affirmations is just this: first you live a life where you think you know everything and your trying really hard to be happy but your not because somethings missing; and then there's the second part of your life when you realize you don 't know everything, but then you become genuinely happy. Suddenly you become your own person separate from your family and it feels good, doing things your way and your good at it. :P

I've helped my Grandma weather a few storms. We have a cool relationship, she tells me stories about my dad when he was little. He was QUITE a character. I get to tell her stories about him when we lived in Maryland and overseas.

Grace
She takes the blame
She covers the shame
Removes the stain
It could be her name

Grace
It's a name for a girl
It's also a thought that
Changed the world

And when she walks on the street
You can hear the strings
Grace finds goodness
In everything

Grace
She's got the walk
Not on a ramp or on chalk
She's got the time to talk

She travels outside
Of karma, karma
She travels outside
Of karma

When she goes to work
You can hear the strings
Grace finds beauty
In everything

Grace
She carries a world on her hips
No champagne flute for her lips
No twirls or skips
Between her fingertips

She carries a pearl
In perfect condition
What once was hurt
What once was friction
What left a mark
No longer stings

Because grace makes beauty
Out of ugly things

Grace finds beauty
In everything

Grace finds goodness
In everything
That's a newish U2 song. My grandma's name is Grace and the song really describes her so well.

In general. I feel I focus too much on EVerything, so I need to unfocus and ignore things and say 'Bah!', then things don't seem so grave.....what an oxymoron-ish affirmation!

It's good, as long as it's not followed by humbug
