I, for one, enjoy the fluffage....we can have a friendly amusing poetry thread in one place and a profound discussion of religion in another.
Wow.

Yeah but the sad fact is that stars think shit doesn't stink and they think we are just after them for their money or are interested because of their fame and want to be famous too-it sucks but it is reality... I wish I could change this but can't!
I want to tell you guys that even though we admire them they see us as people who will never amount to anything close to what they are...

Listen folks, fame and money aren't the only keys to happiness in this life. Sure Jim has cash and fame, but how many REAL friends does he have?Probably a few, sure but how many are in it for his fame and what they can get out of him?
He's followed everywhere by the paparazzi and he has to think about security if he wants to nip out for a coffee.
It's a GILDED CAGE. He's a prisoner of his own success.
And as for LOVE, that's gotta be the hardest of all. Sure he has the love of real friends and family but he'll have women knocking on his door 24/7.
Sure shallow meaningless sex is fun for a while but then the aching for a real companion sets in, one who takes him as Jimmy Gene flaws n'all. Once they've used him for connections and they've see the tears and tantrums they'll be out of the door faster than you can say Jimmy Gene.
Believe it or not stars are even more vulnerable than the rest of us. They have wealth which gives them choices, but they have people trying to manipulate them into making the wrong choices.
and if it goes bad, the whole world is watching.
and if they see us 'mere mortals' as lesser beings then that's their own hell. We wouldn't want to know them like that anyhow.
Jim is as human as you or I, except despite the fame, the girls and the money he has yet to find his life partner.
So it's not all rosy in the fame garden after all. Think about it!

fluffy,
you make some great points! success is quite the double-edged sword. if you are hard-working and reach your goal of fame and fortune you lose your privacy due to rabid paparazzi trying to fill the tabloids with shots of you at your "worst" or doing the mundane, day-to-day things.
the sad thing is, that if acting is your true calling (as it seems to be for Jim) the obvious answer of just quitting and moving to some remote island is out of the question. for those people i really feel sorry for. yes, like you said, they can buy anything they want and go anywhere at anytime but they are always followed when doing it. there's times when i have wished for that but i value a little private time too. (and luckily in my profession, you just don't get THAT famous

)
and it doesn't look like the papazzi will give up anytime soon. i don't know how it is in scotland but in the US it seems that our "need" for "reality" tv and celebrity tabloids is perpetually feeding off each other. just when you think "i don't think reality tv could get any worse," it does. everyone wants their 15 minutes in the spotlight and if they can't have theirs they want to see everyone who does. maybe andy warhol was on to something but i don't think he could have dreamed at the extent to which people would go for those brief moments.
you're right fluffy, we are all human. if you prick us doth we not bleed? once everyone, famous and non-famous, either gets off their pedestal or stops the stalking, maybe we could all live in harmony once more

good point..............yeah........i do think Stars should be allowed to live their lives as freely as the rest of us.......
But the sad thing is, in choosing their proffessions, they will be followed till the grave................especially one as big as Jim.........
In The Uk we do have the Reality Tv thing...........but one primary difference between the British and the rest of the planet seems to be our natural reserve.............
We generally don't go up to the stars on the street.....yeah they might get gawked at but they can generally go about their business without the hassle of bodyguards and crazed fans.............
So many A listers have moved here......Madonna and Guy take the kids to the park.......Gwenneth Paltrow......goes food shopping...........and we have Val Kilmer, Jude Law, Cher, etc all over here.......plus of course we have some serious rock stars.............
the plain fact is people don't really bother with them much here......ok, the paparrazzi like their snaps but since the whole Diana thing they've backed off.........there are now laws preventing them from stalking out their pray..................
But some stars will like the seclusion and star treatment.........others less so.............
Jims world isn't an easy one i'd imagine........which saddens me......everyone has the right to their privacy and personal freedom...

How much privacy do any of us really have? I mean, I live in a small town. Everyone knows everyone else's business here. It's a microcosm. My family has been kind of prominent in the community. My grandma is a great example to everyone and I try to be the best person I can be....but occasionally trip up. We're all human.
Ultimately all we can do is live our lives, make our mistakes and hope for forgiveness instead of persecution.
